We're not sure there's a person on this planet Simon Cowell wouldn't have beef with - so is it really a surprise that it recently emerged he has been arguing with Dermot O'Leary?

The loveable X Factor presenter revealed on Lorraine that he doesn't really like the six chair challenge that's on the show at the moment, whereby acts have to compete for a seat (and often get kicked off if the judges change their minds).

He voiced his concerns to Simon, who not only disagreed, but actively took pleasure in the fact that Dermot doesn't like the concept. Which we have to say, is often unbearably tense and often a bit mean.

"We were talking about my contract and I told him I didn't like it. He said he loves that I don't like it and he told me he's still going to do it," the 43-year-old said. "He has relaxed over time. He's happy to see me unhappy."

Sounds... nice. Although he did add that Simon isn't quite the monster he often appears on camera:

"He rarely says anything mean these days or in the last five years. He's a warmer beast than people think. His reputation is unfair."

But it's true that Simon has the final say over what happens on the show - the fact that the six chair challenge is still going strong, despite Dermot's protestations, confirms that. However, Dermot himself admitted that he doesn't watch the show when it's airing. Which makes sense, really, considering how he's actually there:

"I never watch it back because it already takes up four days a week out of my life so I don't want to watch it on my day off.

Sometimes you think something went well and then when you watch it back, you realise that it actually didn't go that well."

We can't imagine what he's referring to; in his years on the show, Dermot hasn't come close to making the sort of mistakes Olly Murs made when stepping into his shoes for a series. Remember when he announced who was going home before the results were in?

Poor Olls. He’s still a mega babe though – and apparently he goes out on the pull with Nial Horan. What a pair.

Dermot remains a consummate professional, and we hope he'll remain on X Factor for years to come!
