One shining beacon of light in a pretty shoddy 2016 was 100% the Great British Bake Off. Even though we had to deal with the inner turmoil knowing that it would never be the same again after the announcement the show would be heading over to Channel 4, the last series on BBC was probably the best yet.
One reason it was so great was because it brought as the coolest baker in the history of baking in the form of Selasi Gbormittah. The other reason was Valerie Stones.
The pensioner from Somerset was a glorious ray of sunshine on the baking show and she's also been lighting up our lives in the many months since the show ended. There was that time her and Selasi hung out in Somerset, and her Twitter feed literally gives us liiiife.
And just when we thought we couldn't love her any more we spotted that Val's been having a Twitter convo with ACTUAL ED SHEERAN during our morning social media scroll.
It all started when Val shared a video of her doing some baking (obv) while and Ed Sheeran song played in the background.
Val then told her followers about how she feels when she listens to Ed AND IT WAS SO CUTE.
Mid egg-wash, she said: "When I'm listening to Ed, I'll let you into a secret, all the lyrics remind me of when I was 17, or 18, my first love, break up, happy days.
"And, do you know, no matter how old you get you can still listen to music like this and it makes you smile."
OUR HEARTS!!!!
Val also wrote: "Being reflective Ed Sheeran's lyrics remind me that nothing ever changes, we all think we are the only ones to ever feel love loss not so."
And then ED SHEERAN REPLIED.
He wrote: “@valstones This is beautiful and exactly the reason why I make music. Thank you x"
Valerie then wrote back: “@edsheeran I write poetry, Your lyrics are poetry with music."
We couldn't agree more, Val hun.
