We're certified Gossip Girl mega fans here at heat towers and have collectively racked up approximately 314123 hours of quality viewing time. In fact, we sometimes find ourselves so deep into a GG binge session we're not sure whether Kristen Bell's narrating our own life dramas or the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite. It's the latter, fyi.
Anyway, given our love (obsession) with all things Gossip Girl, we'd consider ourselves pretty well-versed on the show's trivia. But this surprising little snippet of information managed to totally pass us by – until now.
It's hard to imagine Serena van der Woodsen, the ethereal, impossibly beautiful yet somewhat flawed socialite - we're talking drug addictions, boyfriend stealing and sabotaging Blair's college future, to name but a few - being played by anyone other than drop dead gawj Blake Lively.
BUT, it turns out Jennifer Lawrence of Hunger Games and just all-round sassiness fame once auditioned for the role. And was pretty devo when she didn't get it.
"We did not realize this at the time, but Jennifer Lawrence really wanted to play Serena and auditioned," show creator Josh Schwartz told Vulture.
"This story came to us second-hand, but we were told she definitely auditioned and was bummed to not get it."
TBH, we're pretty bummed we didn’t get it either. Not that we auditioned or anything, but we probably would have been great.
It's hard to believe, but Jennifer clearly didn’t make much of an impression as Josh couldn't even remember if he saw her audition tape or not. Bit awks.
"We can’t remember if we saw it or not. It was ten years ago, and she would’ve been how old, 15?"
