In the Geordie Shore season 11 finale, broadcast last night on MTV, fans watched as TOWIE heartthrob Ricky Rayment got down on one knee and asked Marnie Simpson to marry him.

They had been dating for just eight weeks but, as Marnie told us: “When you love somebody you just go for it, don’t you?”

We now know that their love was too fragile for this world i.e. that Ricky broke up with Marnie when a picture emerged of her holding hands with Ex On The Beach love-rat Martin McKenna.

Ricky Rayment proposes to Marnie Simpson

Both Marnie and Kyle Christie have told us that the snap was Marty’s doing, and Marnie said that Marty was actually sleeping with Chloe Ferry at the time (not the same exact time – that would cause a public decency outcry).

But what was Ricky’s reaction to seeing his proposal broadcast to the nation?

Fortunately, Ricky is a prolific tweetter, which makes our life easier as we are not Mystic Meg or Derek Acorah, alas.

Mario Falcone, Ricky’s TOWIE pal who has just returned to the show, was quick to get a ribbing in, telling his pal:

But Ricky hit back, reminding Mario that he too had a failed engagement behind him (to Lucy Meck):

Ricci Guarnaccio, who proposed to Vicky Pattison on Geordie Shore, also got in a digging:

Those boys. But even with the, err, support, of his best guy pals, Ricky said that he wouldn’t be watching the episode:

But seemed quite philosophical about the whole thing:

Aw.

So, what next for Ricky? Marnie thinks he should go back to* TOWIE*, and told us: “I think it would be good for him if he did.”

Before dashing all our Essex hopes by adding: “But I don’t think it’s what he wants.”

Maybe if Marnie and Ricky do reunite for Ex On The Beach 5, as Marnie hopes, she can talk him into going back to the show.

Crosses fingers
