Tamal Ray

It’s almost that glorious time of year where we get to see Paul Hollywood’s GIANT hands kneading bread as if he’s in a yeasty love affair (anyone else seen the sexual slo-mo vids? If not – Google them now), Mary Berry making teens everywhere cringe with her overuse of the word moist, and Mel and Sue consistently managing to make some AMAZING sexual innuendos that even our nans laugh at.

Of COURSE it’s almost time for this year’s Great British Bake Off. And we’re not talking about the planned Christmas special, we’re talking about the one that’s, like, now.

But before you get yourself in a tizz over whether you want another cake slopping Dorret Conway (still cringing over that), or a fancy pants decorator like Brendan Lynch, we have some REALLY good news for you.

Take yer apron off, hot anaesthetist Tamal Ray - he who won over every British heart with his sweet smile and sweeter macaroons - is set to have his very own show.

Channel 4 are reportedly in the midst of putting together a one-off pilot for a show called Be Your Own Doctor, which will be dishing out advice on how to stay healthy.

Tamal will be one of them (obvs) alongside Kate Quilton, the superfood guru who doesn’t mind scoffing bugs on telly.

How flippin’ exciting.

There’s no confirmation of dates at the mo, but we’re REALLY hoping this gets picked up because – well actually, we don’t need an excuse to want to see Tamal’s adorable face. We just do, lots.

When does GBBO start?

Its back in baking business on BBC One from 24th August, at 8pm.

Until then, we suggest you get practicing you pavlovas.
