Since One Direction announced their "hiatus" (split) last year, they've had a very excitable time. Harry Styles got a solo deal (and a film), Liam Payne got a solo deal, Louis Tomlinson got a baby – but Niall Horan was just kinda playing golf.

But now it appears he's going back to his roots and following in his mates' footsteps – as he's got a solo deal.

You'll probably remember the mega contro news that Liam signed with Simon Cowell's rival record label Universal Music (it was SHOCKING), and Niall has only gone and done the same thing!

Nawty Niall.

"This will come as a real blow to [Simon] Cowell who has been talking to Niall for months, wanting him to sign a deal with his label Syco.

"He made a number of big money offers to try and persuade Niall to sign up but, in the end, Universal came in and put even more money on the table.

"They’re chuffed to have got one over on Cowell and have taken one of 1," a source told the Daily Star.

DRAMZ DRAMZ DRAMZ.

We wonder if Simon will be throwing some shade at him like he did with Liam?

Speaking at an America's Got Talent conference a few weeks ago, Simon said: "We're in touch with them all. The great thing about these boys – well not all of them but most of them – [is] they are incredibly loyal and you don't always expect that.

"Niall, Harry, Louis – amazing."

OH SNAP, SIMON.

AND THEN things got less shady, more downright angry.

"It's a bit annoying if I am honest with you – mainly because it is another label who has not got your artist who you worked with for so many years.

"But that is the music business, unfortunately. I don't think anyone else from the band will do that," Simon told The Sun.

You got the last bit wrong, then, eh Simon?
