Princess Beatrice cutting Ed Sheeran's face while trying to knight James Blunt at a party was without doubt the best headline we've ever seen and THE STORY of 2016.

There are just so many elements to the whole situation.

The story seemed at the time to be just too darn weird to be true, and it turns out it (possibly) might actually be. As Blunters has claimed it was all a lie.

Speaking to Shortlist, he said: "Ed was drunk, messing around, and he cut himself. We made a fancy story up; people fell for it. It was very embarrassing."

"All of (the story was invented). Apart from the actual scar. It’s bizarre that people fell for it. I blame Ed.

"He must be desperate - he’s trying to sell records. He cut himself and I just patched him up. It’s made him look prettier."

Hmm. As James Blunt is basically the funniest guy in the world (just look at his Twitter lol), we're guessing he's joking.

We love ya, James.

He also previously claimed Ed lied about the whole thing a while ago on the Graham Norton show, saying: "If he (Ed Sheeran) said his face got cut while she was ‘knighting’ him then dashed to A&E before returning to the party, then he is a liar.

"For a start, she is a princess and would be rehearsed and practiced in these matters, and given the NHS waiting lists it would have been impossible to get to hospital and back so quickly."

We just wanna be friends with this whole gang, tbh. Maybe not Princess Beatrice, actually, we like our face too much.
