Yesterday it was reported that Jeremy McConnell had been arrested on suspicion of an assault on a woman in Liverpool. The woman involed had been named in reports as his on/off girlfriend and mother of his son, Stephanie Davis.

According to The Mirror, a spokesperson for Merseyside Police said in a statement: "Following a report of an assault at an address in Stephenson Grove, Rainhill, a man has this morning (Thursday, 16 March) been arrested.

"A 27-year-old man from Liverpool city centre has been arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage after voluntarily attending a police station on Merseyside. He remains in police custody for questioning."

Spotted leaving the police station yesterday afternoon, it is thought Jeremy has since been released.

The police have issued the following statement: "The 27-year-old man arrested earlier today on suspicion of assault and criminal damage has been released pending a disposal decision."

This suggests that investigations are still taking place and it seems Jeremy may therefore still be involved in the police enquiries.

A representative for Jeremy previously explained: "Jeremy denies any wrong doing, however he is fully cooperating with the police in their investigations."
