Jeremy McConnell and Stephanie Davis dominated the headlines this time last year after meeting in the Celebrity Big Brother house and embarking on a, shall we say, turbulent relationship.

We even made this very in depth timeline to prove it.

They split a few months later, but when Steph publically announced she was pregnant with Jez’s baby, he refused to believe he was the father and the pair have had some very public spats since.

It’s fair to say it’s all been just a little bit tense.

But when Steph gave birth to her baby boy on Friday, Jez was off partying in Thailand on a lads’ holiday.

He released a statement shortly after the news broke saying that he’d ‘step up’ and do everything he could to support the bubba if he was the father.

Nice of you, Jez.

He also said that “any timescale for that is in Steph’s hands now,” possibly suggesting that it was up to the former Hollyoaks actress to organise a paternity test.

However, it looks like he might be taking things into his own hands as he has apparently flown back home in order to patch things up with Steph and work out what the next move is.

A source told Daily Star online: "Jez has decided to cut his holiday short and fly back to Dublin alone within the next 24 hours.

"He has told friends he really wants to sort the situation out and find out if he is the father once and for all."

They continued: "Regardless of the media circus which surrounds him and Steph if he is the dad of her child then he is determined to step up to the plate and support her."

It’s a slightly different story to that of his mate’s Snapchat, which showed Jez drunkenly dribbling booze and boxing a tree, with a caption saying: “Get the kid a psychologist!”

Mature.
