Kanye West has reportedly been released from the UCLA Medical Centre, where he was taken last week after allegedly suffering a breakdown.

Reports suggest he was originally supposed to be discharged on Monday, however was kept in for a couple more days of observation.

The rapper is now thought to be at home with his wife, Kim Kardashian and their two children, North and Saint.

According to TMZ, Kanye checked out with Kim and his personal doctor, Dr. Micheal Farzam – who originally called 911 when he was first taken to hospital over concerns for his health.

The website also states: "Kanye suffered what people close to him say was a 'nervous breakdown', triggered in large part by the anniversary of his mother's funeral."

Kanye is said to have never fully grieved the loss of his mother, Donda West, nine years ago.

It was first thought that Kanye had been taken to hospital to be treated for exhaustion and sleep deprivation, however it has since been reported that the rapper suffered a 'breakdown.'

Some suggest he grew more and more emotional in the weeks leading up to his hospital stay, with the increasing pressures of touring and supporting wife Kim after her ordeal in Paris in October.

However, things reached breaking point leading Kanye to cancel his tour around the anniversary of his mother's funeral.

Despite being out of hospital and back with his family, TMZ report: "Kanye is not out of the woods…he needs ongoing psychological and medical treatment."
