This week, Katy Perry divided opinions. That is, with her new haircut.

The star unveiled a bleached blonde buzz cut on Monday and fans can't decide if they dig it or nah.

Katy, who's been rocking an edgy pixie cut for the past few weeks, posted a snap of her much shorter do on Instagram with the caption: "fifth element sea".

Ever since the singer uploaded the pic, which has raked in over half a million likes already, opinions among fans have been pretty divided.

Of course, there have been those who absolutely love the cut, with one adoring fan commenting: "Oh god! I'm falling in love!", while many others simply wrote the words "beautiful".

However, some fans aren't quite so convinced.

"Nnnnnoooooooo why? What are your doing with your hair?" wrote one fan.

Others have gone so far as to suggest Katy is seeking inspo from stars such as Justin Beiber, with one follower writing: "I thought it was Beibs at first…", while another suggested the singer was channelling her inner Miley Cyrus, writing: "Might as well stick your tongue out".

“The 8 mile,” commented one, implying KP's lid now looks like rapper Eminem's.

One user referenced Netflix's hit show Stranger Things, commenting, “Eleven is that you?”

We don't agree with all the hate and absolutely lurve KP's new hair, and it seems like others agree with us.

One fan remarked that the new style should be seen as an empowering call to fans to be true to themselves.

“With every cut of hair you are my favourite idol, thank you for all and do your choice without fear. I will always love you,” the fan wrote.

We totally agree. YOU DO YOU KATY!
