It's comforting to know that even businesswoman, fashion icon and A-list-feud-haver Kim Kardashian started off as the tea-making-intern equivalent of the reality TV world.

Poor Kim had a taste of the cruel world of reality stardom in 2006 (Keeping Up With The Kardashians launched in 2007) when she made a teeny-tiny appearance in The Hills.

In The Hills: That Was Then, This Is Now, which aired last night on MTV, Lauren Conrad revealed that Kim made a cameo on the show at a party at Heidi Montag's house. Tragically, however, the scene was cruelly cut, never to make it onto our telly screens.

Rocking a beaut white blouse, a 25-year-old Kim showed up to the shindig full of naïve hope for the evening. She greeted her chums, including Frankie Delgado and Olivia Palermo.

"What is this?" she asked Heidi, referring to an aquarium next to them.

"These are our jellyfish. We're the only people in America to have jellyfish," was her answer. Cool story, Heidi.

Actually Kim did think that was really cool. She said: "This is really cool. No way." We'd prefer a cat TBH.

Next she's shown having a chinwag with her then-step brother Brody Jenner about her plans for Memorial Day and we find out that she's off to Vegas for the VMAs the next morning. Funnily enough, 2006 was the year that Kim's hubbie-to-be Kanye West lost Best Male Video to James Blunt. Oh, how times have changed.

Sadly, Kim's jellyfish chat never made it to air. But respect to her for fighting through the rejection to become the most famous person on the entire planet (pretty much). We've all learnt a valuable lesson in perseverance today, haven't we?
