But it now sounds like her recent determination to sever the relationship between them is going right to the wall, as Khloe's now thinking about taking out a restraining order on her estranged husband.
According to several reports, Lamar has turned nasty since Khloe reiterated her desire to divorce him, even turning verbally abusive towards her.
A source told RadarOnline: : "He's totally lost it, calling her every name under the sun and yelling at her for breaking promises she made to him on his death bed.
"She's now considering a restraining order against him because he's been threatening all kinds of crazy things, from spilling all her secrets to hoping she drops dead."
Khloe has remained characteristically quiet about her private life of late, even after lurid claims that she was pregnant – possibly with Scott Disick's baby – emerged from the US.
All she's said on social media that was even remotely connected to her personal situation was to tell one young fan to "follow your instincts always. You'll find the path you're meant to take if you trust yourself".
She followed it up by commenting on a quote posted by sis Kourtney Kardashian:
It comes after a long, loooooong journey of recovery for Lamar, who in October 2015 was discovered lying unconscious in a brothel, having gone on a huge drink and drugs binge.
He was hospitalised and induced in a medical coma, but it still took a while for him to relearn how to walk when he eventually left hospital.
