Kim Kardashian doesn’t usually do things by halves - she can’t just post an ordinary selfie, she has to share a totally naked selfie; she can’t just surf the internet, she has to break it.

But the star did, erm, do things by halves at the Met Gala in New York on Monday night.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians fame monger went to extreme lengths to get her metallic look right for the fashion event’s red carpet.

The reality star whittled her possible outfits down to four dresses for the bash but couldn’t make a final decision.

So, she took things one step further - she demanded Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing chop two of his frocks in half so she could combine them and have the perfect costume on the night.

Thanking the dressmaker for his work, Kim’s rapper husband Kanye West tweeted: “Thank you Olivier for making 4 dresses for Kim to choose from which we chopped 2 in half.”

We can just imagine Kanye grabbing a pair of scissors before laying the dresses out on the floor, and taking direction from Olivier as he gets down on his knees to butcher the dresses while Kim stands over them and says: “Oh, mahgod, this is, like, so cool, you guys.”

Kimye turned up on the Met Gala red carpet wearing matching metallic outfits - Kim looked like an extremely glamorous member of the Star Wars cast, while Kanye wore a denim jacket blinged out with crystals and a pair of holey jeans.

Earlier in the evening, Kanye tweeted: “I’m really excited to get our first best dressed at the Met… This Gala is like the Grammys of style!”

He added: “Thank you Anna [Wintour] for the invite, thank you to the whole Vogue team.”

Thanking designer Olivier for helping him sort out his look, Kanye wrote: “And thank you for turning my personal jean jacket into a couture piece.”
