Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in Paris in the early hours of Monday morning in a horrific ordeal.
But not everyone has words of support.
Trolls were quick to taunt the star and even questioned whether this whole story was a publicity stunt. Thankfully, the likes of Chrissy Teigen and James Corden jumped to Kim's defence and highlighted the real issue: no matter your opinion of Kim, she is still a mother, wife and human being who was the victim of a terrifying crime.
The repercussions in the wake of Kim's ordeal – which left her begging for her life – have also been dramatic. Kanye West cut short a concert and has postponed his tour to be with his wife in her time of need. Additionally, fresh fears have surfaced for the Kardashians as Kim is deeply concerned that personal pictures and videos of the star could be leaked after the gunmen stole two of her phones in the raid.
And now, one of Kim's former security guards is hinting that the whole event could have been avoided. Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Steve Stanulis even claimed that the armed robbery was: "100 per cent an inside job."
The bodyguard warned that world-famous Kim should withdraw from social media for her own safety and stated that he saw this coming, as a result of the reality star flaunting her riches online.
Steve went on to criticize the security team responsible for looking after Kim at the time. He argued: "There should have been an armed security, absolutely."
An ex-police officer, he also suggested that he could have done a better job at protecting the reality TV star:
"If you have a multi-million dollar ring and you're sporting it on Snapchat, how much does it cost to get an off-duty police officer, who is trained and you could have prevented this from happening… As a former police officer, it would have taken me two minutes to realise those guys were not real police officers."
However, Steve does admit that current bodyguard Pascal Duvier may have been unable to offer sufficient protection as a result of his famous client's demands. Pascal was busy looking after Kim's sisters – Kourtney Kardashian and Kendall Jenner - when the robbery took place, which Steve suggests was a request that Pascal would not have been able to refuse: "He doesn't have the ability to say: ‘No. I’m not going to go with Kourtney, I'm going to stay with Kim.'"
According to Steve, it’s down to Kim and Kanye West to dramatically re-think their whole security strategy to avoid any threats to their safety in the future.
Isn’t hindsight a wonderful thing, eh?
