American Horror Story is ready to scare you silly with sixth series

Great news, fans of a good scare – American Horror Story will officially be getting a sixth series.

Following on from American Horror Story: Hotel, series six will be arriving on FX in 2016. But creator, Ryan Murphy, hasn’t given us any idea of a theme yet.

    John Landgraf, president of FX, said: "With the sixth installment coming next year, American Horror Story has unquestionably joined the ranks of television's landmark series.

    "From Murder House to Hotel, AHS has pioneered a new television form as well as becoming FX's highest rated show - while also pushing every conceivable boundary of creative excellence and audacity.

    "This is even more remarkable because Ryan and co-creator Brad Falchuk tear up the playbook every year, challenging the entire creative team to come up with something even more spectacular, frightful and entertaining. You could not ask more of an artist, their team or a series and with every new installment they deliver."

    AHS creator Ryan recently hinted that two separate seasons could actually air next year - although that hasn't been confirmed.

    "Next year we might do a fall American Horror Story and a spring. We have to decide," he hinted in August.

    "We're doing something that we've never done before on the show where we're doing two different groups of writers rooms.

    "Some of our writers will be bouncing around but a whole different group coming in late August.
