Liam Payne and Cheryl are very much in a 'love bubble' at the moment, as Chezza would put it.

They recently welcomed their beautiful baby son Bear into the world and Liam even hinted that they had secretly got married (he called her his 'wife in an interview). Liam's also been gushing about how much of a great mum Cheryl is while he's been away promoting his solo music.

However, according to The Mirror, Liam has opened up about a time when things weren't so plain sailing for the couple.

Speaking about a track from his debut solo album he revealed: "There’s one song that is basically a phone call that happened between me and her when she was about to let it go.

“This is a long time ago. And it’s basically me trying to cling on and say: ‘No, no, no it’s all going to work out — don’t worry about it, give it time.’"

PHEW. Thank goodness she gave it time, eh?

Liam's also spoken out about the time his friends mocked him for winking at Cheryl during his X Factor audition all those years ago, and admitted he's 'always' had a crush on her.

The Sun reports that Liam said: "I always, always had a crush on her. I got back to school the next day and when my friends saw it they were literally ripping the p*** out of me.

"Now they can’t say it didn’t work. The wink is powerful, it has powers beyond its own means.

"I have to be careful — it’s a licensed weapon in the UK."

Lololol.
