Today is 3rd October, otherwise known as Mean Girls Day. The fateful day when Aaron Samuels asked Cady Heron what day it was, to which she eloquently replied: "It's October 3rd”, signaling the start of a tumultuous yet oh so beautiful romance.

Today, however, we doubt Mean Girls star Lindsay Lohan is celebrating with the same enthusiasm as the rest of the world, as poor LiLo is nursing a horrific injury.

After a series of allegedly violent rows and subsequent split with now ex-fiancé Igor Tarabasov, LiLo had taken some time out of the limelight. The actor has recently been touring Turkey and visiting hospitals in Istanbul as part of a humanitarian mission in support of refugees fleeing Syria.

It was on this mission that the Parent Trap star was enjoying a boat trip with friends off the Turkish shoreline and disaster struck.

On Sunday, Linds shocked fans on Snapchat when she posted a pic of her heavily bandaged finger along with the caption: "I almost lost my finger from the anchor. Well, I lost half my finger, thank goodness we found the piece of my finger… I just had surgery to fix it… it hurts so bad."

Yikes, poor Linds.

The accident took place on a boat trip off the coast of Turkey. Apparently, Lilo had decided to take on some of the captain's duties and attempted to lift the boat's heavy anchor when she became tangled in the ropes. The anchor then plummeted into the water slicing off the top of her ring finger. SHE ACTUALLY LOST HALF A FINGER.

Luckily, her friends offered a (much needed) helping hand and went on a hunt around the boat in search of the missing digit. Gruesome.

Thankfully, the top of Lindsay's finger was found and the star was quickly rushed to hospital where a plastic surgeon reunited her with the detached digit.
