Tom Powell was unceremoniously booted out of the Love Island villa tonight, to resounding cheers up and down the country. Probably.

It's fair to say that Tom has lead Sophie Gradon, the queen of our hearts, a merry dance during his time in the show.

He's pouted, huffed, thrown moodies and generally tried to emotionally always have the upper hand. Not cool, bro. Not cool at all.

We spoke to Tom to find out why he'd behaved so terribly.

"I acted like a bit of a muppet, I acted a bit childish; I didn’t act like a man," Tom told us.

Which is something, we suppose.

But Tom still believes that he and Sophie will an item when she eventually leaves the show.

"I’m going to be waiting here for as long as it takes her to come out, and when she comes out I’ll be here…

"It’s not going to change anything; we’re still going to be together when she comes out. I want her to stay and do everything that she can in there."

And Tom told us something v-e-r-y interesting about his ex Emma-Jane Woodham which, while it doesn't excuse it, perhaps makes his behaviour when she entered the villa a little easier to understand.

"Emma approached the show. She said she’d seen me and rang one of the producers and told him that she was my ex and she tried to get on Love Island

"She said something on the way in, like, 'I will teach him to cross me' or 'I’ll teach him to do me over' and that's why I thought she might be there to stir things up."

Blimey.
