Whoa, ruthless!

Mary Berry's former Bake Off colleagues have been shocked after Mary fired her long-term agent Fiona Lindsay, who is often credited for making Mary the national treasure she currently is.

But why?!

Well, a source spoke to The Sun and revealed: "Mary has left Fiona after nearly 30 years and it has left a lot of people stunned. No one knows the reasons behind it but it feels quite ruthless.

"It shows that even though she’s at 80 Mary is prepared to make tough decisions that she believes will benefit her career."

TV is a pretty ruthless business, and it seems that Mary knows this and is willing to make some surprising changes. But apparently, the news of the firing came as a big shock to Lindsay who has been in the press recently, making a statement about all the exciting projects Mary has got coming up. That she now won't be working on. Awkward.

"It has been reported that Mary only intends to work another year – that’s simply wrong, she has lots of exciting projects coming up – including on TV with the BBC – and has absolutely no plans to retire," Fiona announced in September.

This big decision comes about Mary has begun to receive some success in America, thanks to the American version of Bake Off, (called The Great American Baking Show, which is obviously an inferior name) receiving excellent ratings on ABC, and with a steadily growing audience.

This comes after rumours that the BBC are going to launch a new cooking programme with Mary, Mel and Sue - replacing Paul Hollywood with GBBO winner Nadiya Hussain. Nobody has confirmed these rumours but we're sort of fascinated to see what this would be like.

Maybe they could call it something really original like The Great English Baking Show.
