The world is waiting for Zayn Malik to make his debut solo performance – in August he was rumoured to be performing at the MTV VMA’s but that turned out to be a false alarm.
Now heat is wondering whether the former One Direction star is planning on making a comeback which is a little closer to home – 10 miles from his home in fact. This year’s 20th anniversary MOBO awards is being held at the First Direct Arena in Leeds on November 4, just 10 miles from Zayn’s Bradford family home.
When we popped along to the MOBO nominations launch on yesterday, we asked organiser Kanya King whether she’s asked the star to perform. And her response was very coy.

She told us: “Yeah, yeah…who knows, who knows. You never know. Anything can happen [nervous laugh]… sounds like you’re a fan.” Of course! We can’t wait to hear his new stuff, and DJ Zane Lowe told us how good it is. It would be great to have him perform, right?
Kanya added: “Yeah, yeah, OK…well thank you for the thought [nervous laugh] we’ll keep that big surprise. We’re going to have a number of different surprises.” Well, although it’s NOT confirmed, it’s not denied either. So there is hope.
And Krept & Konan, who are nominated for four MOBOs, also got a bit coy when we grilled them about Zayn. Speaking about their performance, Krept says: “We’ve got something that we’re really not going to say now but there’s something and they’re going to remember this.”
It’s not Zayn performing with you is it? Krept said: “Nah man.” And Konan added: “I don’t know what he plans to do, but I know his stuff is going to be sick.”
So we asked what whether they would be doing anything with the single they recorded with Zayn – remember the one that was leaked and caused a Twitter spat between Zayn and Naughty Boy?
Krept told us: “Nah, I don’t think so.” But he assures us they haven’t fallen out. “I haven’t fallen out with him at all,” says Krept. And if Zayn’s at the MOBOs? “Of course I’ll say hello” he added.
We. Can’t. Wait.
