Props to Little Mix – they’re one of the biggest bands on the planet – but they’ve done it their way.
They spoke to Hunger magazine about the importance of staying “real” for their young fans. And that means being aware of what is and what isn’t appropriate for their audience.

“[It’s] really important,” Jade Thirlwall told the magazine. “When we first got together I think we realised that there wasn’t anyone in that lane that was representing girls in a positive way without being overly sexual.
“I think we’ve filled that gap now. At first we were worried about getting girls on our side, but thankfully they came flooding in, I think young girls needed an ally in music.”
You can say that again, girls.
Jesy Nelson added:
“We’re not here to represent perfection, because none of us are perfect.”
We’d beg to differ – but we know what the girls are saying.
Perrie spoke about the band’s new album – their first since 2013.
“We started writing straight off the back of a tour, there wasn’t a break,” she said.
“We knew what we wanted to do, we wrote a whole album and sat down at my house making notes and then with our label, but it didn’t feel perfect.
“We’re such perfectionists that it got to the point where we decided to start again. We took a few months off, had a time out and came back and started the album again.”
