Zayn Malik breaks Twitter silence for first time since Perrie split news

Zayn Malik has broken his Twitter silence for the first time since news of his and Perrie Edwards’ split became public… and he’s made absolutely no mention of it whatsoever.

The 22-year-old ex-One Direction singer, who quit the band back in March to pursue a “normal” life, has posted a picture of a lotus leaf sitting on a piano. Weird, huh?

If you want to get all educational about it, the lotus flower in many cultures symbolises purity, rebirth and spiritual awakening - so is Zayn trying to make a point about fresh starts?

Perrie, on the other hand, has been forced to address the split as she and her Little Mix bandmates are currently doing promo for their Black Magic single in the US.

They all appeared on E! last night, with the host asking Perrie directly how she felt in the wake of the split.

“Perrie, obviously I know it’s a very tough time for you with the news breaking today about you and Zayn, so your fans, I know, are heartbroken,” the presenter said.

“I’m good, thank you,” Perrie replied, before Leigh-Anne Pinnock answered: “We don’t really want to talk about it.”

Zayn is thought to have initiated the break-up two weeks ago, just a couple of months after the couple splashed out on a £3million north London mansion to live in together.

The Sun today reports that Perrie is “livid” with Zayn, especially as she’s been planning their wedding, and having stuck by him after all the drugs and cheating rumours he’s gone through.

The pair had been dating for four years, getting engaged back in 2013 and reportedly planning their wedding for next year.
