wedding guest style - fascinators debate

    Loves it...

Jennifer Read-Dominguez, heat's Editorial Assistant, is all for these follicle fancies…"Fascinators are fascinating (almost magical) aren't they? Trust me – wear a fascinator and feel EXACTLY like Harry Potter did when Professor McGonagall plonked that old sorting hat onto his head – he went from slightly weird boy who lived under the stairs to Gryffindor legend in a matter of minutes. In the same way, shove some feathers or practically a bird on your head and you've suddenly made it – that is, the step from an ordinary girl with no sense of style to middle-class fashionista. Nowadays, I'm partial to a day out at the horses because it not only allows me to wear an accessory I never usually would, but I'm a changed woman. I may even start speaking the Queen's English with a fascinator upon my crown. It's like My Fair Lady all over again."

    No-no never...2 of 2

    No-no never...

heat's Senior Stylist & Style Writer Ellen Kerry is anti-fascinator…"Hey, want to age yourself by, ooh say, 25 years? Cool. Just whack a fascinator on. Nothing says blue blood and blah like a net-covered headband with random feathers sticking out all over.Or how about those that are angled to look like a sassy satellite dish on your forehead? K-Middy loves those. And just because I love her doesn't mean I'm going to give up my right to not look like Liz Hurley. Why DO those mini hats have to sit at such weird angles? Competitive fascinator wearing is the worst. I can't actually see the bride because your flamingo fascinator is in the way. Look, I get that an Alice band with 45 fake butterflies decorating it might make you feel fancy. But, guess what? So does a really great blow dry and an excellent dress."
