The CBB star opened up about her attempted suicide and relationship problems
Stephanie Davis today cried as she opened up about her relationship with Jeremy McConnell – and what will happen to them in the aftermath of Celebrity Big Brother.
Appearing on Loose Women, Stephanie admitted she followed her heart during her CBB stint – and hasn't properly spoken to her ex, Sam Reece, since coming out.
"I can't believe I've found someone who actually loves me for me," she told the panel.
"[Jeremy's] the first one to love me for me, he's given me belief back in myself."
The ex-Hollyoaks star also talked about her previous relationship problems and her mental health, including the time she took an overdose in an attempted suicide.
"A few years ago I had not a lot of self worth, I was going through a bad time," she said, getting teary-eyed.
"I got taken advantage of, I got depressed – I don't want to get upset – and I took an overdose, thinking, 'I can't see me getting out of this'."
As she lived alone at the time, there was no-one with Stephanie when she took the pills – so she had to seek help before it was too late.
"I called an ambulance and I couldn’t see – I don't remember what happened next. I was just so angry with myself."
She's since had counselling and is managing her panic attacks and anxiety much better now.
On the subject of Sam Reece, Steph said she ended things via text.
"I sent Sam a text after CBB – not that night, I was enjoying myself, some time the next day. It said something like, nice to see you're making money off the back of it, glad I don't have to pay for everything anymore. Best of luck with everything."
And she claimed Sam had even had concerns about Jeremy BEFORE Big Brother, which is why she had to 'pretend' she was really in love with Sam.
"Before I came in Sam got Jez up on Twitter and was like, oh, he's going in. And he told me to big him [Sam] up and say he was lovely and I was going to marry him and everything," she continued.
"I knew he cheated on me time and time again and I only stayed with him because of the past."
Sam has continually denied the cheating claims, which Ruth Langsford brought up, but Steph just shook her head and gave two thumbs down.
When one of the Loose Women asked Stephanie when she knew she and Jeremy were going to get together, she smiled and said it was all down to her Amy Winehouse impression.
"When I got up and sang Valerie, he looked at me and he was like, I love you, because his mum's name was Valerie," she revealed.
Steph added that the things she loves most about Jeremy are "his morals" and his ability to stay positive.
"When he was younger he lost his mum, his brother and sister within the space of 15 months, and the only pictures he's got is in the locket – that's why I was so upset when he gave it to me," she said.
"He's just got such a great outlook in life despite what's happened in his past."
