Scotty T has been arrested over a firearms offence.

The Geordie Shore star was taken into custody by police on Monday after they searched his apartment.

Celebrity Big Brother champ Scotty admitted to previously being in possession of an “air weapon” in public and was cautioned over the offence.

Scott was seen leaving a police station in Newcastle early on Monday morning.

A police spokesperson said: “On Monday, May 30, a 28-year-old man was arrested and given a caution for possession of an air weapon in a public place.”

A representative for Scott told heatworld: "This was meant to be a mindless piece of fun, but Scott realises how foolish it was and apologises for wasting police time.

"Scott complied with police and was cautioned and released."

The caution will remain on his criminal record which may cause problems for him if he wishes to travel to other countries, and for work.

Appearing to refer to the incident on Twitter afterwards, he wrote: “Well that was a horrendous 6 hours.”

Scott was due to make a media appearance along with his Geordie Shore co-star Gary Beadle to promote their clothing line on Wednesday but it has been cancelled.

It is unclear if this is connected to Scott's arrest.

This isn't Scott's first brush with the law - he previously admitted common assault after punching a man on a night out in Wales in 2014.

He was fined £265, ordered to pay £100 compensation and £75 costs.
