The love story of Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift was a fairytale for the modern day - once-geeky-now-super-buff-and-hot DJ Calvin wins over sexy pop powerhouse Taylor and they live happily ever after.
But it seems “ever after” can be defined as 15 months because the couple have split after dating for that amount of time.
The pair appeared to be going from strength to strength but it seems it was never meant to be, with the former lovebirds apparently splitting because, well, just because.
An insider told People: “There was no drama. Things just don’t work out sometimes.”
The pair looked loved-up on holiday recently and pals of the pair were saying it was only a matter of time before Calvin got down on one knee.
A friend told heat: “Taylor and Calvin had the perfect holiday. They didn’t argue once and it really cemented how in love they are. It’s the most healthy and mature relationship Taylor has ever been in.
“They’ve regularly talked about marriage and have even discussed having children. Everyone things it’s only a matter of time before Calvin proposes.”
The couple had plenty in common given their shared experience of life in the spotlight, and it’s thought the pressures of a busy career in music did not put as much of a strain on their relationship as it could have done as they understood each other’s needs.
Taylor and Calvin started dating after they were set up by their singer friend Ellie Goulding at a BRIT Awards afterparty in 2015.
Ellie previously said: “How did I set up Taylor and Calvin? It just kind of happened. They’re both good people, both dear friends. I thought it might work - and it did.
“Calvin is a really great mate and he’s so fantastic, and Taylor is such a cool person who I love.
“I thought, ‘They’re both really awesome and both really tall, they’ll be brilliant together.’”
