The Only Way Is Essex’s Gemma Collins has bravely spoken about the time she was attacked by her ex-partner.
Gemma has revealed that the alleged attack took place just before she appeared in the I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle.
Gemma was left with a bleeding head, hands and feet after the man she thought she was going to marry beat her up.
The reality TV starlet hopes that by speaking out she will encourage other victims of domestic violence to go to the police, something she was too frightened to do.
“He started beating me up and kicking me constantly on the floor repeatedly in the bottom of my spine, which he knows I had a fractured coccyx,” Gemma said of the attack.
“When he beat me enough to get me down on the floor then he didn’t stop there. He locked me in my flat – he then repeatedly kicked me, kicked me, kicked me.”
Gemma went on to explain that a neighbour called the police but that she didn’t take the matter further with them.
“I dropped all the charges because I was too scared to see it through. I wish to this day that I saw it through,” she told The Sun.
Shortly afterwards, Gemma appeared in I’m a Celeb and left the show, with many believing that a lack of ham sandwiches and Quavers made her quit.
“At last people will know I never left the jungle because I was hungry,” Gemma tweeted when the details of the attack emerged.
Gemma’s ex partner denies that the incident occurred.
