Love Island’s Olivia Buckland and Alex Bowen reckon the lie detector test LIED

Sure guys, sure.

Love Island - Alex and Olivia

What do we have in common in Stephanie Davis?

That's right! We're all soppy old romantics at heart.

But there's one romance this summer that we haven't quite managed to get behind: Alex Bowen and Olivia Buckland.

Sure, they came second in *Love Island *but it was hardly Brexit close: Nathan Massey and Cara De La Hoyde romped home with 54%of the vote out of four couples.

And what really stretched our belief in Alex and Olivia's relationship was the lie detector scene when Alex failed every question put to him by Liv.

But apparently we shouldn't be so cynical: it was the lie detector that was lying, say Alex and Olivia.

"It was such a stressful day anyway," Olivia said.

"We were the last couple to take the test, we were already aggravated, and it monitors your stress levels and sweat glands. I don't want to trust a piece of machinery, I want to trust a person," she continued in an interview with Reveal magazine.

And Alex was also quick to diss the detector.

"Apparently the results weren't 100 per cent accurate, though we weren't told that on the show," he said, suggesting that he's never watched The Jeremy Kyle Show.

"You've seen my reaction and how gutted I was. One of the questions was, 'Can you see a future together?' A machine can't predict the future, or someone's feelings."

Which suggests he's never seen Terminator 2: Judgement Day. And he really should. Arnie factor MAX.

Let's remind ourselves of some of those questions Alex failed, shall we?

Are your feelings real towards Olivia?

Do you see a future with Olivia?

Is Olivia silly to trust you?

Do you find any girl in the villa more attractive than Olivia?

Ouch.

There's also that tweet he sent about getting extra attention from girls following Love Island

Prove us wrong, guys. Honestly, we'd like to be proved wrong on this one. And a wedding invite please.
