Our favourite foodie show of the summer, Great British Bake Off, is set to hit our screens a tad later than it's usual.

But it's for all the right reasons. It's been CONFIRMED that BBC1 bosses have given the go-ahead for TWO Christmas specials!

The Bake Off's Twitter account posted the following:

So all that blubbing last night over the fact we'd seen the last of Bake Off on the BBC was for nothing!

The shows are expected to follow the same tried-and-tested format with all the filthy innuendos, fab presenters (YAY) and snippets of cake history that we're used to.

However, instead of sourcing new talent to stir the pot, the bakers will actually be past contestants returning to show you how to ganache your buns.

Sorry.

But how bloody EXCITING.

Which ex-contestants will get a slot on the festive sister show?

Someone needs to bring back Brendan Lynch from series 3 because we need to relive his RIDIC decorative skill. Can you imagine how he'd transform a Christmas pudding? We're putting in a request for a person-sized gingerbread house with all the trimmings.

And we could also go for a bit of HAWT Tamal Ray, the super-nice anaesthetist whose smile – and cakes, duh – whisked up a Twitter frenzy of adoring fans.

We are also holding out for poor old Dorret Conway – that cake-leaking-out-of-the-container moment will be permanently etched into our memories and we will feel bad for her forever.

PLUS thanks to the infamous Cake Gate Sabotage of series 5, Diana Beard and Ian Watters have some unfinished business.

Can't they all just come back and have a mega bake-off?

Assuming the answer is no, we will just have to be grateful for this sweet way to wave off 2016.
