Does this spell the end for One Direction? Simon Cowell, their actual creator, has given the boys his blessing to go solo.

The former X Factor band lost out on the Best British Group award but scooped the British Artist Video of the Year prize at last night's BRITs and their boss picked up their statue on their behalf as they couldn’t make the ceremony.

Simon may finally be satisfied his prized possession has made him enough cash had enough success as he says they can now do their own thing.

But don’t worry Directioners! He has set one condition: that they do their solo bits ON THE SIDE of 1D.

He told the Daily Mirror: “You can’t knock what One Direction are doing. They’re making great records and I think that’s why they’re still so popular.

“I hear speculation all the time that they’re going solo. My advice is they should stay together but still do things they want as a little bit on the side.”

    Good advice, Si.
