Hit the high street and you can’t move without falling into some kind of 70s time warp. The hippy era of clothing is fashion’s current new-old crush meaning we’re all being encouraged to ditch our 90s grunge-fest and don swathes of suede and fringing. It’s cool we don’t mind. Espesh if it means we get to look like this pair…

Brit style plate and all-round hip type Alexa Chung is back in the UK for London Fashion Week, fresh from ruffling feathers across the pond at NYFW.

In one of her first LFW appointments, at the W Beijing Launch at W Hotel in London, ‘Lexa did her style rep proud, slipping on the butteriest of suede A-line midis. Chung avoided looking like she was on her way to a hen do by giving her 70s skirt rocker edge with black ankle booties, a tucked-in blouse and matchy scarf. That box bag is a double win; slick and big enough for all sorts of musts.

The hero piece of AC’s LFW look is no doubt that tan A-line. Designer? Nuh-uh. Chung’s suede skirt is from none other that Marks & Spencer! Yes, at £199 it’s a pricy piece but a total investment.

Chung isn’t the first major style star to slip on the Marks ‘n’ Sparks midi. New York socialite and profesh polished person Olivia Palermo wore the same suede to trot around NYFW. Palermo doubled her suede up and went down the autumnal shades route for extra punch.
