Justice for Cold Coffee
Following an arguably-quite-successful album campaign which saw him play sell-out Wembley Stadium shows and provide a first dance song for approximately 546,859 couples (Thinking Out Loud, duh), Ed Sheeran announced a social media hiatus on December 13th 2015.
Hearts shattered. Kittens cried. Some Sheerios wore exclusively black for weeks. The one glimmer of hope? Ed promised his third album was 'on its way' and the 'best thing' he'd put his name to yet.
And it looks like said third album could be with us very soon indeed. Yup - on January 1st, as we felt increasingly sorry for ourselves and regretted that last Campari spritz, Ed confirmed we're getting brand new music THIS FRIDAY. AKA January 6th. AKA the majority of shit 2016 threw at us doesn't even matter anymore.
So, to celebrate, we thought we'd revisit some of his most underrated tracks ever.
Since the initial announcement that sent everyone slightly loopy, Ed's teased a divide symbol (potential album title?) and song lyrics (When I was six years old I broke my leg/The club isn't the best place to find a lover) on his socials; and in anticipation of 5am GMT this Friday we thought we'd show some of his lesser-known songs some love.
Ready for a few of our faves?
This Songs I Wrote with Amy track's SO CHILL and probably responsible for a rise in Frappuccino sales. Maybe.
Lately (with Devlin)
Off of the No. 5 Collaborations Project EP. REMEMBER DEVLIN?
I Was Made for Loving You (with Tori Kelly)
THE SHOULD-HAVE-BEEN SINGLE.
All About It (with Hoodie Allen)
Sort of the lost single, really.
At least it got chucked on the fancy reissue of x, eh?
So yeah, Ed's new song's out at 5am GMT on Friday January 6th so you might wanna set an alarm. HOORAH.
