Remember the Pepsi advert Kendall Jenner starred in earlier this month? We’re fairly sure you will, given that it was up there with the biggest PR disasters of the year.

In perhaps the most ill-thought out ad we've seen ever in our lives, Kendall leaves a shoot to join a protest, before pacifying the whole thing by giving a policeman a Pepsi.

We won't even begin to list the problems with this concept.

Pepsi decided to pull the advert the backlash after it attracted huge controversy across the world.

In their statement, released to Twitter, they said: "Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding. Clearly we missed the mark, and we apologize.

"We did not intend to make light of any serious issue. We are removing the content and halting any further rollout. We also apologize for putting Kendall Jenner in this position."

And now Kendall’s father, Caitlyn Jenner, has spoken out about the advert.

Speaking to Andy Cohen on Sirius XM, she said: “I saw it… and I thought, ‘That is so cool.’ It was cute”.

I didn’t see all the other things that I guess, obviously, some other people saw.

“She’s a model… I felt sorry for Kendall.”

It was reported that Kendall was ‘devastated’ after the backlash from the advert.

An E! Online report quoted a source close to Kendall as saying: "Even though she had nothing to do with the production and the message of the campaign, she will be blamed for this since she is the face," the source explained.

The source states that Kendall was paid millions for the deal, but that she can't contractually comment on the fallout without Pepsi's approval.

They continued: "Kendall relied on Pepsi to do their due diligence and trusted that it would tasteful… The original intent of the commercial was to mirror all the global protests trying to make this world a more equal place for everyone.

"But they shouldn't have had a celebrity face tied to it if they wanted to try and send a strong message like this."

Another source told TMZ that Kendall "had no involvement in the creative process" for the advert.
