We've been patiently waiting for an owl to deliver our acceptance letter to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for longer than we should probably admit.
Even though deep down we know that wonderful world of Harry Potter is merely a figment of J.K. Rowling's marvellous imagination, we're still living in hope that one stay we'll stumble upon the portal into Diagon Alley on one of London's cobbled streets, enjoy a lovely pint of Butter Beer (the real deal, not that phoney shit they fob you off with in Watford) and join Ron, Hermione and Harry on a quest to defend the wizards and muggles alike from dark magic. IT COULD HAPPEN, OK.
In the meantime, though, some absolute legends have come up with the next best thing and have created the Bothwell School of Witchraft and it's basically a real life Hogwarts.
Opening this summer and inspired the success of similar schools, such as the New World Magischola in America), Bothwell Shool of Witchraft can be found at Herstmonceux Castle in East Sussex.
According to their website, The Bothwell School of Witchcraft is "a place where you can finally live out your dream of becoming a real life student of magic. The story, characters, props and scenery will bring our school to life and leave you with an unforgettable experience."
Sounds MAGICAL.
The experience is set out kind of like a large scale Murder Mystery. You spend three days (full board, obvs) in the 15th Century castle, where you'll be sorted into a house, attend Hogwarts-style lessons and indulge in a banquet fit for wizarding royalty.
You'll also apparently meet a whole host of "weird and wonderful creatures" as you navigate your way around the grounds, but that just sounds like our regular Saturday night, tbh.
An extension of the College of Wizardry LARP events in the UK, Bothwell School of Witchcraft will open its doors from 11th to 13th August, with a number of packages available.
Prices haven’t been confirmed yet, but it is expected that a standard ticket will set you back about £400 - £450. It ain't cheap, but can you really put a price on journeying to the wizarding world?
