In food news potentially even more shocking than the fact a single Greggs sausage roll will now set you back 90p (NINETY whole pence), chicken connoisseurs KFC has announced the arrival of its 'most famous' burger in the UK.

Yup, say hello to the Double Down.

For anyone trying to avoid carbs atm we have just the thing for ya, 'cause KFC's infamous burger doesn't actually have a bread bun. Nope, the Double Down comes with a casual two pieces of Original Recipe Chicken instead.

Cluckin' hell.

According to the press release thingy - and very much evident from the picture above - the Double Down features crispy bacon, melted Monterey Jack cheese and barbeque sauce sandwiched between two succulent Original Recipe chicken fillets.

After being available in the US, New Zealand and Australia previously, the Double Down will be available over here for just six weeks from Monday October 9th before disappearing from the menu.

Better cram as many in as you can, eh?

Jack Hinchliffe, Innovation Director at KFC UK & Ireland, said: "There’s been so much excitement for the Double Down since it first launched to the US in 2010.

"It’s sold out in every country that it’s been released in, so we’re anticipating it’ll be a sell-out success here in the UK."

Blimey.
