ICYMI Kendall Jenner is now the new face of Pepsi - following in the footsteps of Beyonce and The Spice Girls - and the brand new advert titled "Live For Now Moments Anthem" dropped last night.

In the advert, Kendall is seen joining masses of protestors holding signs that call for 'love' and 'peace', offering riot police Pepsi's and ultimately saving the day...

And people are understandably NOT happy.

The advert has caused quite the backlash on Twitter, with many angry that Pepsi is marginalising the struggle against police brutality by implying their drink could solve everything.

Many were also upset that that Kendall is shown to recreate the iconic image of Ieshia Evans in Baton Rouge last summer and accused her of exploiting the activism of black women.

Kendall has so far kept quiet about the backlash; although she did tweet last night that she was 'honoured' to be a part of the campaign.

But now Pepsi have released a statement defending their campaign.

It reads: "This is a global ad that reflects people from different walks of life coming together in a spirit of harmony, and we think that’s an important message to convey."

And in an earlier statement given to Teen Vogue, Pepsi said: "The creative showcases a moment of unity, and a point where multiple storylines converge in the final advert. It depicts various groups of people embracing a spontaneous moment, and showcasing Pepsi’s brand rallying cry to ‘Live For Now,’ in an exploration of what that truly means to live life unbounded, unfiltered and uninhibited."

Over to you, Kendall.
