The BEST EVER X Factor duets

We're still holding out for a Sonny and Cher moment

X Factor duet

December is actually our FAVE month. Not just because it's Christmas (although that's exciting too, have you seen our FAB gift guides?) but because it's the time of year that brings us the X Factor final.

And you know what that means?

Besides extravagant set designs, emotional family VTs and more high notes than a pre-pubescent Christmas choir, it's also the week when the finalists rope in some of the music industry's biggest stars for a duet.

This year's rumoured guests sounded pretty INCREDIBLE.

There was even a rumour flying around at one point that THE SPICE GIRLS would be performing.

SO EPIC.

Anyway before we get too carried away imagining a Wannabe/Starboy/Bohemian Rhapsody megamix, let's take a look back at some of the legendary duets we've seen on The X Factor over the years.

Olly Murs and Robbie Williams

Let's kick things off with two of our favourite cheeky chappies. Their chemistry was undeniable and everyone wanted them to become proper IRL buddies. The pair have actually maintained a friendship, but Olly recently revealed they've never been able to make music together, because they just muck about when they get together. Why are we not surprised?

Cher Lloyd and Will.I.Am

OK so this performance was actually pretty underwhelming, but we're just throwing it in for the LOLs. Plus Will.I.Am is such an enigma, anything he does is kinda just great. ALSO WHAT ON EARTH ARE THEY WEARING?

Jahmene Douglas and Nicole Scherzinger

This duet had to make the list purely for Nicole's complete professionalism and DIVA attitude. When her mike didn’t work she just grabbed Jahmene's out of his hand, chucked hers on the floor and continued to absolute belt out Whitney Houston The Greatest Love. Nicole and Jahmene then shared the mic for the rest of the performance.

Sam Bailey and Nicole Scherzinger

Nicole makes the list again when she joined Sam Bailey to take on And I Am Telling You. Both ladies had absolutely KILLER vocals and we're sensing a bit of a dive-off as they battled for the spotlight.

Little Mix and Tulisa

There are MANY reasons this collab was bloody brilliant. Firstly, WHO KNEW Tulisa aka The Female Boss could actually sing like that? Secondly, can we all just appreciate Jesy Nelson's beatboxing skills. LOOOOL.

George Michael and Joe McElderry

Joe took on Elton John and George Michael's Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me WITH GEORGE. We don't think there was a dry eye in the audience when this performance was over.

Matt Cardle and Rihanna

THIS PERFORMANCE WAS STEAMY AF. Just look at Matt Cardle trying to contain himself as Rihanna sexily saunters on stage. If Carlsberg did sexual tension, eh? ;) ;)

Reggie 'N' Bollie and Fuse ODG AND Craig David

Who could forget Reggie 'n' Bollie? In our opinion they literally made X Factor 2015 – until their rendition of the winner's single brought us all back down to earth. This nearly takes the top spot for the BEST EVER X Factor duet, purely because they were joined by not one BUT TWO special guests. And one was come-back king Craig David. 'Nuff said.

Alexandre Burke and BEYONCE

So this is probably the BEST X Factor duet there has ever been. If you didn't get shivers all over your body when Beyonce stepped out onto the stage, then who even are you? Alexandra was so overwhelmed but still managed to rival Queen B on the big notes. We were screaming along at the top of our lungs but it didn't quite have the same effect. AHH it was just so epic in so many ways.
