Honey G has been given some extra protection after her live X Factor performance was invaded by pranksters.

The aspiring rapper, who was given the boot from the ITV talent contest on Sunday, saw a number of men jump on stage with her on Saturday as she was receiving her comments from her judges after her performance.

And Honey was left so shaken after the incident that she’s now enlisted the help of someone to ensure she’s safe.

A source told The Sun Online: "Honey’s X Factor journey has really helped expose her as an artist and credible hip-hop star - but it’s also left her vulnerable.

"She was left shaking after Saturday night’s encounter with those Troll Station idiots - but even though she seemed to shrug it off and remain professional, it’s knocked her confidence.

"Today she had a string of TV appearances, but she didn’t want to take any chances so has called on some professional protection."

It’s unclear how long Honey will need the help of a bodyguard to ensure her security but she has no intention of fading away now her time on The X Factor is over.

During an appearance on This Morning yesterday, she insisted she sees herself as a genuine urban artist and not a joke act or X Factor prank, as many thought she was.

She told show hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby: "Before I entered X Factor I had never done a live rap gig. I feel like a rap artist has been born. I have grown as a rap artist."

Taken aback by her comment, Phillip asked what she had been doing before.

Honey replied: "In the year 2000 I was studying in university and one of my mates came up with my name.

"G because it is my surname and Honey because he said I was sweet like Honey."

Denying she was putting on an act, she said: "No. I’m not fake, this isn’t an act. I have grown up in the underground scene. I am known to BBC 1 Extra. My mum is a classical pianist."
