Not all Big Brother stars can go on to become national treasures like Alison Hammond, Josie Gibson, Brian Dowling, Pete Bennett, and the late Nikki Grahame – in fact, in the case of disgraced Big Brother 2016 contestant Andrew Tate, far from it.

Tate rose to fame in 2016, appearing on series 17 of the popular reality series, alongside the likes of Marco Pierre White's son, Marco Pierre White Jr., and Lateysha Grace (from the outrageously iconic The Valleys, yes). He went on to become one of the show's most infamous contestants and, today, one of the most talked about men on the internet. Eye roll.

The former Big Brother contestant has been popping up in the news again – for all the wrong reasons, we might add. And, back then, but his troubles began just six days into his Big Brother stint.

Why was Andrew Tate kicked out of Big Brother?

Tate was removed from the Big Brother house six days into the seventeenth series in 2016.

In an official statement, the programme-makers explained, "Due to information Channel 5 and Big Brother became aware of today, Andrew Tate has been removed from the Big Brother House."

Following his removal, Andrew posted a video statement via Facebook giving his side of the argument. In the post – which was soon deleted – he said, "I'm no longer in the Big Brother house, I'm afraid. I had a new plan that I wanted to do which was much better than calling them all snakes.

"I had an amazing master plan and the producers of the show were worried that if I did such an amazing plan and got caught that it was going to kick off in a big way."

Tate alleged that three of his housemates all threatened to hit him and that producers had to "beg" him not to retaliate if one of them lashed out at him.

"'You'll destroy them, you'll annihilate them. You're a pro fighter, these are people who think they can fight,'" he went on, apparently quoting the producers.

"And they decided that my new plan was just too risky and I had to leave. So enjoy the show without me."

Andrew Tate (Channel 5)

Channel 5 soon released a counter statement.

It read as follows, "Channel 5 and Big Brother have become aware that Andrew Tate has posted a statement on Facebook about the circumstances of his departure from the Big Brother house. What Andrew says in that statement is completely false."

"Andrew was not removed because of his actions inside the house. Nor was he removed for tweets allegedly posted by him prior to his entering the house. Andrew was removed because of information which came to light today."

It was claimed at the time that producers removed Tate after a disturbing video that shows him beating a woman was unearthed.

Andrew later said, “This tape is a kinky sex video and we’re acting out a role play."
