Well, what’s this we have here? Has Chris Evans let slip a massive secret? The DJ says he’s filming for Top Gear next week, suggesting he may be the new host of the show.

The BBC suffered a crisis in March when former presenter Jeremy Clarkson was suspended for becoming involved in a “fracas” with fellow member of staff Oisin Tymon.

He was later sacked from the programme, prompting co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May to resign.

Chris Evans was one of the names tipped to take over as the new frontman of the show and it seems he may have confirmed the spot on today’s Sunday Brunch.

When asked if he had got the job by the Channel 4 show’s presenter Tim Lovejoy, Chris replied: “Not started yet, but we are doing a secret Top Gear film on Tuesday.”

Tim replied “It’s not so secret now”, but Chris continued: “It still will be, because nobody knows where it’s going to be but we’re going to make one and see how it goes.

“We’re making a Top Gear – we’re doing a Top Gear sequence with an independent production company and we’re going to see how it goes.”

Another viewer wrote: “What the ..... Was Chris Evans meant to say he’s filming a #topgear pilot episode / segment on #sundaybrunch ?”

And another person posted: “I think Chris Evans has let slip he’s the new #topgear presenter on @_SundayBrunch_C4.”

    Err, oops?
