This Home Alone fan theory might actually ruin your Christmas

It's pretty dark

Home Alone

So watching the Home Alone films (1 and 2 obvs, possibly 3 on a particularly lazy day but let's be honest 4 was a bit of a nightmare – and who knew there was a 5th film!?) is pretty much a Christmas rite of passage.

Christmas isn’t really Christmas until Kevin McCallister is left to fend for himself after being abandoned by his family, is it?

But have you stopped to actually think how bloody awful that whole experience must have been for poor lil' Kev. Like his family literally FORGOT about him and he was practically embroiled in a fight to death with Harry and Marv (incidentally the WORST criminals known to man – but still) as they tried to rob his family home.

Home Alone

If this was real life we're pretty sure social services would have staged some sort of intervention and filed a case for neglect, but alas in movie land the Macallisters went on do the SAME THING again and poor Kevin was left roaming around New York on his own.

He even had to suffer the ordeal of bumping into Donald Trump.

If this all wasn’t disturbing enough, fans have come up with some sinister theories which will completely change the way you think about Home Alone, and also probably ruin your Christmas.

Remember Uncle Frank? Kevin's mean Uncle who calls him a 'little jerk' and is quite frankly just a bit of a dick. Well one writer at Crave is convinced he's the criminal mastermind behind the planned robbery.

He writes: " It’s plain and simple: Uncle Frank devised a plan to rob the McCallister’s home".

Apparently the fact that Frank doesn’t chip in for the $122 pizza bill is total proof.

OK…

He also adds: "But Frank’s plans don’t stop there. He’s also planning to have Kevin murdered."

The evidence for this is that he CLEARLY hates Kevin, so would naturally plot to have his own nephew killed.

Right…

Home Alone

Some Reddit users have gone even further and have suggested Kevin's father Peter McCallister is also a big-time criminal.

One user, Cubanesis, has come up with a pretty convincing argument to support this theory.

Home Alone

They write: "First, the very first time we see Peter is when Harry is dressed as a cop scoping the place out. Peter is WAY defensive in this interaction. All Harry does is ask If he's the owner of the house and Peter jumps straight to "Am I in some Kind of trouble officer?". The look in his face is on edge the whole time he's talking to Harry.

"Secondly, we never find out what he does. They don't mention where he works, or his background, or anything. Now in the the book adaptation of the movie they say something about him being in "business". That's pretty vague. But Peter makes enough money to have a wife that doesn't work and like 5 kids. He also has a house that is worth like 1.5 million."

HMMMM. Cubanesis doesn’t seem very fond of the rest of Kevin's family either, adding: " Finally, this one is kind of weak, but look at how his family carries themselves. Kevin's mom is a cold emotionally dead bitch who says terrible things to her 8 year old son. Buzz is a f*cking psychopath, who is probably set up to follow in his dad's footsteps. Uncle Franks is obviously a crook of some kind. Then there's Kevin, who seems completely ok with killing two robbers. I don't think his intent was to "bonk them on the noggin". He was out for blood.

"Plus, the whole family has terrible manners. Just look at the scene when Kevin's mom is trying to use the pay phone in Paris and a woman is already using it. The whole family just muscles the poor woman off the phone."

SEE. CHRISTMAS IS RUINED.
