And there's talk it'll star original cast members Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint
So, word on the mean streets of Privet Drive is that Harry Potter And The Cursed Child could be made into a movie. SCREAM.
Yep, there's the possibility of it coming to the big screen.
Imagine that. You, popcorn and Potter. What a date.
According to a new leak it could be turned into a movie trilogy, and guess who might be in it?
Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, no less. Harry Potter And The Cursed Child is set 19 years after the events of the last book and tells the story of Harry and his youngest son Albus, who struggles with his dad’s legacy.
Journalist and historian Jim Hill said at the Unofficial Universal Orlando Podcast: "I have heard that Warner Bros has actually had conversations with Emma, with Rupert, and, of course, Daniel about Cursed Child, because they want this to be, for lack of a better term, Harry Potter: The Force Awakens.
"They want this trilogy of movies to have the actors that we know and love from the original films, that we watched grow up, as adults."
He continued: "And, of course, they're hiring a bunch of new, younger actors to play their children with the hope that, if we can lean on JK [Rowling], maybe there'll be The Cursed Adolescent."
He also said he expects the release date to be in 2026, two years after the fifth and final Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them film.
Please say it's so, Daniel.
The thing is, D-Rad told The Hollywood Reporter in September: "I'm never going to close the [Harry Potter] door, that would be a stupid thing to do.
"But I think I'll be happy enough and secure enough to let someone else play it.
"At the moment it's not even a concern because I'm too young to play the character, but even in 10 years' time, I would still feel strange about going back to it.
"There's a part of me that's like, some things are better left untouched."
NO! Touch it, Daniel. Just touch it.
"If we went back to Potter, there's a chance we'd make what Star Wars: The Force Awakens was to the original Star Wars, but there's also the chance that we'd make Phantom Menace.
"So I don't want to go back to anything like that and maybe sour what people have already loved."
Hear that? That's the sound of Potter fans fainting worldwide.
