13 Reasons Why is all the heat office / anyone with a Netflix account is talking about right now, and for good reason. It's not often that a TV show can generate so many important social discussions about mental health, society in general and leave viewers with so many unanswered questions.

But 13 Reasons Why has also been subject to a great deal of criticism from a few sectors of society, including mental health charities, for its depiction of suicide and sexual assault. The controversy surrounding the show has seen Netflix add extra precaution to the episodes and even producer Selena Gomez responded all the furoreby stating that 'it’s not an easy subject to talk about’ and that it was going to happen 'no matter what'.

And now the show's leading lady Katherine Langford, who plays Hannah Baker, has touched upon all the negative comments surrounding the show in a revealing interview with Jimmy Fallon.

When asked about the level of controversy, Katherine powerfully responded: "Of course there's controversy. I think things like these instigate discussion, which is the important part. And I think we cover so many important issues in the show that are going to affect people differently depending on their own personal context.

"And I'm like everyone's feelings are valid, so I'm not going to tell anyone to feel anything differently, but personally being directly involved in the show and seeing the thought and consideration that went into it..."

She then continued: "Also being a young adult, playing a young adult and covering issues that are relevant, I feel really proud of the way we covered it and the way we showed things.

"The other cool thing is, when Netflix says, 'Yes we made this piece of entertainment', and there was a focus on trying to show it in a way that served justice to message in the book."

Katherine (who's an absolute babe, you can find all you need to know about her right here) then chatted about how important it is to help spread the word about groups and advice that can help teens.

"My Instagram following has just grown exponentially, and I pretty much put the links to 13reasonswhy.info and the organization itsonus.org – I put their links in my bio.

"Because I figure if one in 10 girls watch that out of five million, you're going to hopefully help a lot of people."

She’s just amazing, isn’t she?
