Love Island’s Sophie: ‘I’ve been 100% faithful in the villa… the kiss with Katie was FAKE’

We are so sad. SO SAD.

Tonight was a terrible night in Love Island.

Sophie Gradon, our show queen, decided to leave and we are even more gutted than when Javi Shephard got the boot.

We honestly believe Sophie could have won the show if she'd just stayed coupled up with Katie Salmon.

So, why did she go?

"Katie was one of the reasons I left," Sophie told heat.

"I wanted to leave her to it, so she can make the most of her time and enjoy it 'til the end."

Plus, of course, she missed Tom Powell, despite him acting "like a muppet" towards her by his own admission.

But, the question on every Sophie fan's lips is: why did she get together with Katie if she had such strong feelings for her boyfriend?

"The coupling up with Katie was purely a friendship coupling," she told us.

"She agreed that we'd play the game and try to get to the end together but I never held it back from her that I still had feelings for Tom.

"I thought that might not be shown on TV because, y'know, two bisexual girls getting together and potentially winning Love Island, it would have been big! If it was genuine. But it wasn't."

And what about the smooch the two ladies shared on their dinner date?

"The peck on the lips, they had to rerecord that a couple of times because it was so awkward. Nothing could ever be more than friendship with Katie.

"I have been 100% faithful in the villa."

At the time of our chat, Sophie hadn't seen any social media or press so wasn't aware that Tom was threatening to 'do a Malin Andersson' and confront his girlfriend in the villa.

Or that he'd been posting pictures of women in their knickers to his Snapchat account.

Whatever happens between Tom and Sophie, here's hoping this isn't the last we've seen of Love Island's leading lady. We are, and will forever be #TeamSophie.

*Love Island continues at 9pm on Friday on ITV2. *
