It's hidden in plan sight

You've got to love Love Island stars like Jay Younger.

You know, the inhumanly hot type who pop up on the show for an even hotter minute, say about four words in total and then leave long before we've even noticed they've gone? THEN, they return to the outside world and start spilling enough show tea to close down a Whittard – and just refuse to stop (to our absolute delight).

We're swooning for Jay all over again, tbh.

The 2022 Scottish bombshell – who turned the head of one Ekin-Su for a hot minute last summer – has done a fair few podcast interviews since being dumped from the villa, and we have to say, although his show tea has always been piping, it's NEVER been THIS hot.

Jay recently guested on The Big Jim Show podcast and was quizzed about how much the Islanders were paid to appear on the show and he DELIVERED THE RECEIPTS. He not only revealed how much the Islanders get paid every week, but divulged a secret source of onscreen income that we never even contemplated – and we're heat...

Take a breath before this one, Love Island stans...

Jay revealed, "Once they [producers] send through the contract, I think they pay you like £375 a week. It’s very low; it’s like minimum wage.

"£375 a week and they’ll pay for any ad hoc advertisements you do. So like, you might be holding a bottle and they might pay you a fee for that. I can’t remember what that was.

"They’ll pay you if you’re wearing certain sponsored clothes – if they see you on camera with that.

"But it’s not about the money, it’s about the exposure it’s meant to give you after. "

He added, "They invite you to events after which they pay you like £1,200 – like an ITV commercial event, something like that."

Imagine a Love Island producer listening to Jay and his soft, sexy dulcet tones spouting this kind of tea? Iconic bad bombshell behaviour if you ask us – we're guessing the producers feel differently...

How much do Love Island contestants get paid?

According to Jay Younger, Islanders get paid approximately £375 a week.

They also get free food and accommodation and condoms as well, so – winning?

And despite not actually earning that much while they're on the show, the Islanders can cash in on the big bucks by doing Instagram ads and club appearances when they leave.

How much do Love Island winners get?

The Love Island winners take home a £50,000 prize fund between them. The winning couple no longer seem to have the option to split the money evenly between them (£25,000 each) or steal the whole £50,000 sum for themselves. Which is a crying shame, IOO.
