Back in CBB January 2016, Megan McKenna had an absolute meltdown over some mashed potato and stole our hearts.

And she hasn't stopped entertaining us since, thanks to her role as feisty Pete Wicks-botherer in TOWIE, which has seen her kick off several times in the last few months.

But while her outbursts are doing great things for the TOWIE ratings, behind the scenes the rest of the cast are getting pretty fed up.

As we report in this week's heat magazine, the more screentime Megan gets, the less popular she is with the Essex stalwarts.

"The cast are all pretty competitive over who gets the best lines and the biggest stories," our insider told us.

"Some of the stars are fuming that so much of the new series has already revolved around Megan and have been moaning that she's stealing every scene.

"The feeling is that when you are new you have to earn your position but it hasn't been the case for her. She was thrown right into the middle of stories and it's been like that ever since."

Megan's first foray into the frenzied waters of Brentwood were, of course, her showdown with Chloe Lewis over Jake Hall, which has been dragged out into a long-running feud. And in Sunday night's episode, she was reduced to screaming in Mike Hassini's face over rumours he'd spread of her 'acting flirty' towards some blokes on holiday.

"Some of the more established cast feel she's become the show's priority because she makes great TV. She flies off the handle and causes rows but it's left some feeling forgotten," our source says.

"Others have even complained that she was even allowed on the show in the first place because the rule was always that you were meant to be a 'regular' Essex person to land a spot.

"Jack Tweed and Rylan were both turned down because they have been on screen before whereas this is Megan's third reality show after Ex On The Beach and CBB."

But does it really matter when Megan – and her Pirate Pete – are making such great telly?

TOWIE continues on Wednesdays and Sundays on ITVBe.
