In news we’ve quite literally been waiting our whole lives (since roughly 2004 when the second film came out) for, there’s apparently a THIRD Princess Diaries film on the cards.
And we are so ready for it.
We last left Mia Thermopolis at the end of the second film, Royal Engagement, in which she’d inexplicably broken up with Michael and ended up with that other Prince we can’t remember the name of played by Chris Pine.
OH, and Queen Clarisse got married to Joe!
It was a lit sequel by all accounts.
And it looks like we might be able to find out what’s happening with the whole gang 13 years later – as a third instalment could be on the cards.
Meg Cabot, author of the books, has told Entertainment Weekly that they may go forward with a third film as a tribute to the other films’ director Garry Marshall, who died last year aged 81.”
She told the publication that it “could happen”, but when pressed about the details replied: “I am not allowed to say. I would love to sit and talk about [it], but I can’t. I’m not allowed. But it’s really more following the movie than the books, so if she — the last version I read, she definitely did not find out that she has a biracial younger sister … which I personally would’ve thought was hilarious, but that was not the direction they were going.”
Is it just us, or does this sound like it is DEFINITELY HAPPENING?
Speaking about the difference between the books and the films, she continued: “I think of them as two different universes. Like there’s The Princess Diaries universe that I created, which is, you know, amazing, and the Disney universe, that they created, which is equally amazing. And, you know, there’s fans of both, and fans who actually kind of like both of them at the same time.”
We’re mega fans of both, tbh.
