Ever since Peter Capaldi announced that he was leaving the Tardis last year, the whole world is waiting on tenterhooks for the new Doctor Who to be announced. Like, seriously, Beebs, just PUT US OUT OF OUR MISERY.
Loads of people event thought that Theresa May was going to tell her nation what they really wanted to hear when she made a shock announcement outside Downing Street on Tuesday (she announced a Snap Election instead lol).
And despite many sources suggesting that the now iconic role could be given to a woman - Pheobe Waller-Bridge, Olivia Coleman and Natalie Dormer were all in the running – it now looks like the BBC have now unfortunately confirmed that there are "currently no plans for a female Timelord".
Olivia Coleman would have been the best Doctor Who though, right? Even better than her *Broadchurch *buddie David Tennant. Hehe.
Despite no OFFICIAL confirmation, the BBC seemingly put their foot in it when a fan filed an official complaint about concerns that switching the gender of the time lord would confuse their kids.
Borrrrring.
A BBC worker then apparently wrote back to the worried dad, assuring him that the new doctor would indeed be a man.
According to The Sun, complaints officer Joanne Coyne wrote: “We appreciate that you’re a big Doctor Who fan and you have concerns that the programme would change should there be a female doctor.
"Be assured there are currently no plans to have a female Doctor Who.”
They also said their worries would be passed onto senior managers and programme makers “including the Doctor Who team”.
A BBC spokeswoman then added: “No casting decisions have yet been made on Series 11.”
Hmmmmmm.
