It's uncanny, tbh

It's fair to say that University Challenge has had its fair share of quirky contestants over the past few years.

From King's College's leather vest-attired Kamil Shah to the superhumanly intelligent Eric Monkman, the nation's biggest braniacs are an entertaining bunch.

This week's episode of the BBC Two show featured yet another contestant who stole our attention.

This time, viewers couldn't help but notice how much Adam Lowery, a chemistry student from Sunderland, looked EXACTLY like Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them's Newt Scamander.

The Newcastle University student's bow tie and perfectly coiffed combover had everyone on Twitter comparing him to the Eddie Redmayne character.

But the comparisons didn't stop there, as Lowery's unusual outfit choice was also compared to Doctor Who and even Mr Burns from The Simpsons.

One viewer wrote: "To be fair if Newcastle lose, Lowery will just nip into his Tardis and go back to the beginning so they can win".

Lowery's Newcastle team absolutely smashed rivals Sheffield Hallam, beating them by the huge margin of 170 points to 40 so he'll be back on our screens soon. Hopefully in his bow tie.
